1. Add keywords from other apps in one click
If you have a few similar apps, or you are conducting ASO for different platforms, you’ll find the Copy Form feature in Keyword Manager very useful. You can copy all keywords from other apps to your semantic core.
To do this, simply select the desired app, country, and table with words in the Keyword Table. The tool will automatically copy all keywords, and after clicking the Count button, they will appear in the current app’s Keyword Table.

This can be a huge time saver when building a semantic core for multiple apps.
Copy Form is available on Startup, Pro, and Business plans.
2. Evaluate the difficulty of promoting for a certain keyword
When choosing keywords, it is important to analyze not only their popularity but also the number of competitors for them, as well as the current position of the app.
The Difficulty indicator will tell you how difficult it will be for your app to rank for selected keywords. It gives an estimate of promotion difficulty from 0 to 100 based on many parameters, including the number of apps ranking for the keyword and their presence in the top, as well as keyword popularity.
Pay attention to this metric to determine if a keyword is suitable for promotion.
Difficulty is available on all Asodesk plans.
3. Check how the popularity and difficulty of a keyword is changing
Keywords gain and lose popularity due to external factors such as holidays or change of seasons. For example, the query “flower delivery” is searched for more often before February 14th. To decide whether to use a keyword in the semantic core, evaluate not only its popularity at a given time but also its change in popularity.
Each keyword in the Keyword Table has a History button. Click on it to see the dynamics of the keyword’s popularity.

For example, we see weekly fluctuations in popularity for the query “flowers” in the US. Daily Impressions decrease slightly at the end of each working week and rise on the weekend.
Over three months, the Keyword Difficulty indicator for this keyword also changed significantly. Based on this, we can assume that fluctuations will continue in the future.

Sing up and track the history of a keyword’s popularity to make predictions for the future.
4. Track changes in positions for the most important keywords
Don’t miss the position changes for the most important keywords. This will help you respond in time and make changes to your ASO strategy if something goes wrong.
The Favorite Keywords tool allows you to track changes in the positions for the most important keywords. If you star keywords in the Keyword Table, they will automatically appear in your favorites.

You can view statistics on position changes for the required period. And if your favorite keywords have dropped or moved up in search, you will immediately see it. For keywords in green, your positions have improved. For keywords in red, your positions have dropped.

The tool also shows five other apps at the top for these keywords. You can track changes for several countries at once in one table.
If you want to get more detailed dynamics of keyword positions, use the Keyword Highlights tool. In the tool, you will find out for which keywords your app appeared in the search and stopped ranking, and for which keywords the position improved or worsened.

Favorite Keywords and Keyword Highlights are available on all plans.
What’s more, you don’t have to track changes manually. Get regular Email or Slack reports on changes in keyword positions.

With instant notifications in Asodesk, you can track which keywords get into Trending Searches.
We recommend that you regularly track positions for important keywords so that you can notice all the changes as soon as possible.
At the moment, Keyword reports and notifications on Trending Searches are available for all users. Read on to learn how you can customize them for your app.
5. Find all variants of phrases containing the desired keywords
In order to move up for more similar queries in search, you need to include different variants of search queries with the same keywords in your metadata. This is especially relevant for Google Play, where you should use 3–5 repetitions of keywords in the description.
The free Keyword Shuffler tool will help you pick all possible keyword phrases from the required words. It will show all possible word combinations from four search queries.

With this tool, you can avoid wasting time searching for word combinations. Keyword Shuffler is available for free on all plans.
6. Pick keywords for which your main competitors do not rank
It is important to choose keywords that will make moving up in search easier. Therefore, if you are just starting to promote or your niche is highly competitive, do not pick keywords for which your main competitors already rank high.
You can track the positions of competitors which you have previously added to the system using the Competitors tool. The positions of your competitors are highlighted in the table.

To plan your promotion strategy properly, consider the positions of your most important competitors for your keywords.
Competitors is available for all plans.
7. Check which keywords are not suitable for your app
Some search queries seem to suit the app well at first glance. But later it turns out that apps ranking for this query are completely different from yours. For example, the query “airplane” mainly shows games instead of apps for buying air tickets.

Use Keyword Charts to find all inappropriate queries at once. The tool will show search results for all words from your semantic core. Check which apps are ranked for your keywords. If they are very different from your app, you should exclude those keywords from your semantic core.

Look at the search results for your keywords to gauge their relevance and competition for them.
Try Keyword Charts for your app.
8. Find keywords in competitor descriptions
The description on Google Play affects the ranking, so it should contain a lot of popular keywords. Analysis of competitor descriptions will allow you to find out non-obvious keywords that are not included in automatic suggestions.
With the Text Analyzer in Keyword Manager, you can find queries that your competitor prioritizes in their promotion.

Here you can see how often different keywords appear in your descriptions and the descriptions of nine competitors. To do this, you must first add competitors to the list.
Text Analyzer will help you estimate the number of impressions per request per month (Daily Impressions), as well as keyword frequency and its density in relation to the entire text. Keywords from this tool can be added to the semantic core.
Find interesting keywords for your app in the descriptions of your competitors.
Text Analyzer is available to all Asodesk users, but Daily Impressions is only available on Pro and Business plans.
9. Check the number of keyword repetitions in the description
The description must not contain too many repetitions otherwise the Google Play algorithm may see it as spam. Artiom Tkachuk recommends adding 3–4 repetitions of important keywords in the text with a description length of 2000–2500 characters. If the description is over 3500 characters, you can use up to 5 keyword repetitions.
To check the number of repetitions, you can use the free Keyword Density Counter tool. This tool allows you to find the most repeated keywords and phrases in your description.

The tool also helps you find interesting competitor keywords for your description.
Keyword Density Counter is available for free on Asodesk (registration not required).

10. Use filters and settings in the Keyword Table
The size of the semantic core often reaches several hundred words. It can be difficult to navigate through all those keywords. So, it is important to use additional settings that will help you find only the keywords you need at a given moment.
You can sort them by any indicator you want, for example, by Daily Impressions, Search Ads Popularity, Difficulty, Ranking, Movement. To do this, just click on the indicator name in the table.
For example, we sort keywords by Difficulty.

Use filters to ensure that only the keywords you need are displayed in the table. You can filter the words based on the following criteria:
- presence in the app’s Title and Subtitle;
- app positions for the word;
- language;
- Daily Impressions;
- Search Ads Popularity.

For example, using filters, we found medium-frequency queries in English with SAP from 15 to 40, which are in positions 1–30 of the search results.

If you want to promote by long-tail keywords, you can choose the desired length of words.

You can also remove keywords with low popularity or those that your app doesn’t rank for. Just select the dropdown menu, click on Search Ads Popularity = 5. Then click the Delete Keywords button in the upper right corner of the screen.

These filters and settings will help you work with the semantic core faster.
They are available on Pro and Business plans.
11. Add notes for keywords
If you work in a team or have a large number of projects, we recommend adding notes to keywords. This way, you will not lose the necessary group of keywords in the general table.
You can leave any note in the Keyword Table. For example, write that these words are especially important for promotion and should not be removed from the table.

Notes will help you navigate the keyword table more easily. They are available on Pro and Business plans.
12. Use translation and word search
If you’re collecting keywords in a language you don’t speak, you can use automatic translation. To activate this feature, simply click on the “Translate into English” checkbox in the table. The same feature is available in Keyword Manager, Keyword Table, Keyword Auto-Suggestions, Keyword Charts, Top Keywords, Organic Report, ASO Comparative Report, and Competitors.

A word search will help you find key phrases with only the words you want. You can search in English, and the table will display queries in the language of your semantic core.

To understand which foreign language keywords will suit your app, check their automatic translation into English.
Keyword Translation is available for Pro, Business, and Custom plans. You can also try this feature for free. Sing up and get full access to all Asodesk features for 7 days.
13. Update keywords to see current statistics
Next to the keyword in the Keyword Table, you can see the date and time at which the keyword statistics were updated. We automatically update keyword statistics daily. But if you need to get statistics more regularly, just click the “Update all” button.

Keyword Table update is available for all Asodesk users.
14. Make sure you don’t forget to use all the necessary keywords from semantic core
When creating metadata, you can accidentally forget a query that would be important for promotion. To prevent this from happening, use the Optimizer tool. The UnUsed Report of this tool will show you which semantic core keywords you forgot to add to the metadata. In the Used Report, you can find out which keywords you have already used.

UnUsed Report in Optimizer is available for Startup, Pro, and Business plans.
15. Make sure that only important keywords are in the metadata
Google Play and App Store metadata is limited in characters, so it is important to make the most of them and avoid unnecessary keywords.
Optimizer will help you filter out unnecessary words. Keywords longer than 10 characters or those that are repeated 3 times are highlighted in red; words that are repeated twice are highlighted in yellow. Stop words are highlighted in blue: they take up extra space but are unnecessary.

To save space in the Name, Subtitle, and Keywords fields, exclude these keywords from the metadata.
In this tool, you can also save different versions of the metadata. This will help you prepare metadata in advance for multiple updates.

Use notes to eliminate unnecessary keywords from the metadata and save different metadata versions to keep them all in one place.
Most of the Optimizer settings are available on Startup plans while saving metadata versions and exporting metadata is only available on Pro and Business plans.
