August was a quiet month in terms of major announcements, but there were still notable updates across app store ecosystems. Apple adjusted App Store prices, Google rolled out changes to Play Console and reminded developers about the transition to Android 15 as the target API level. At Asodesk, we also launched Localizations — a new ASO tool with competitive analysis features.

App Store News

Apple updates App Store prices due to tax changes

On August 21, Apple announced tax and price updates across several countries. Payout and pricing calculations for developers have been adjusted in Brazil, Canada, Estonia, Romania, the Philippines, and Vietnam to reflect changes in VAT, removal of digital service taxes, and other updates.

Starting September 8, Apple will also revise app and in-app purchase prices for the Philippines and Vietnam storefronts (unless selected as base countries by developers) in line with new tax rules.

Google Play News

Statistics section update in Play Console

In August, Google updated the Play Console interface. The Statistics page has been simplified — all key app metrics are now collected on a single tab. Developers can view core indicators, including normalized ratios like DAU/MAU, without switching between sections.

Target API update for apps on Google Play

Google reminds developers that from August 31, 2025, all new apps and updates submitted to Google Play must target Android 15 (API level 35). Existing apps must target at least Android 14 — otherwise, they will no longer be visible to new users on devices running newer Android versions.

A deadline extension is available until November 1, 2025, and can be requested via the Play Console.
